So it turns out you can get away with a lot after you turn 40. When you start telling people that you would love to sell everything and go sailing, people encourage you. Then when you decide to sell your house, close the home based school your wife owns and move into an RV no one looks at you twice!

The original plan was to tour around for a while and then head over to Mexico and perhaps start building on our property in Guatemala but as most things go, plans have a way of changing….

We took off from Denver, waking up the first morning outside of Arches national park. All my son could say was “wow!” as he ran outside to see the mountains. From Arches we went to Salt Lake and spent a week hanging out with some close friends and then we hit the road towards Seattle stopping in parts of Idaho and Washington.

When we got to Seattle we spent a few weeks in a B&B across from Green Lake as my wife attended classes at Sound Circle Waldorf School and we took in the whole scene (and food). It was in Seattle that our plans began to change. We found out Gaby was pregnant!

This began to make us rethink our plan as we progressed into Canada, eventually spending a month on Vancouver Island. We would have loved to stay there longer but we also felt we needed to start planning for our baby so Gaby and Nicholas flew back to Colorado as I drove back through Idaho, Montana and Wyoming stopping along the way.

We got back in to Colorado, began looking for a house, sold the RV and my daughter was born the day before we went into the pandemic lockdown!

She brought us back and got us into a home just in time!
